At Magic Kingdom – Walt Disney World for a limited time they offer a hard ticket event called Disney After Hours. From June 28th – September 20th 2018 during select nights guest can enjoy the Magic Kingdom Park with only a limited amount of guests which makes you feel like the park is yours.
If you don’t like the crowds, then this is the event you want to attend. Only a limited amount of tickets are sold for this event so there are little to no wait times. I mean, we just walked on to most rides, it was great. Also included in the ticket price is unlimited ice cream treats, bottled beverages and popcorn so you can munch and stay hydrated while you play. But if you are looking to grab a bite to eat, Casey’s Corner and the Main Street Bakery remain open. Yes that does include Starbucks for all you Starbucks fans like me!
Rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which usually have a 90 to 180 minute wait at times during the day, we barely waited 10 minutes to ride. Other popular rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and let’s not forget Peter Pan’s Flight had about a 5 to 10 minute wait if you didn’t just walk right on. Honestly it’s totally worth it just for the low crowds and no wait times, but adding the snacks and drinks and the feeling of having the park to yourself was an added bonus for us. We loved it!
Magical Moments like the special Photo Pass options around the park are also little to no wait. My husband and I took advantage of this with the Rapunzel Floating Lantern photo-op. We had been wanting to get this picture since it first became available, but was always discouraged because we didn’t want to wait in the long line it always had. This time a short 5 minute wait and we got our magic shot. We are sooo happy with our pics and that wasn’t the only photo-op we got, there were more throughout the park.
We also got to have more fun with the Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall. With hardly no one in line, there wasn’t a huge pressure to hurry up to let the next guest have their moment with the Princeeses, so we got to interact and have more fun with them, it was so Awesome! The same went for the other characters at the other meet and greets.
In my honest opinion, I think the $119 is totally worth it. Not having to deal with the crowds, the heat of the hot Florida sun during the day, and the little to no wait times really makes it for a more laid back, fun experience. Not having to worry about Fast Passes or standing in line for almost everything is just so refreshing and I would honestly do this more often.
The Event Dates that are still available for Disney After Hours are:
- July 21st and 28th from 10:00PM – 1:00AM
- August 4th and 11th from 10:00PM – 1:00AM
- August 30th from 9:00PM – 12:00AM
- September 20th from 9:00PM – 12:00AM
You can Check-in as early as 7:00PM so you can get a jump start on the fun and also still get to enjoy Once Upon a Time Castle Show and Happily Ever After Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular, so you really do not miss out on anything!
As I mentioned above, advance ticket prices are $119 per person from ages 3 and up and you can purchase these tickets online on the Disney website or at Guest Services.
I hope that Disney actually considers doing this maybe for Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom as well.
Let us know in the comments if you plan on attending Disney After Hours or if you’ve already attended one of the prior evenings and how did you like it?
