It was a sad and scary day today at the ‘Most Magical Place on Earth’ as guests of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World got an unexpected surprise during the 3 o’clock parade of Festival of Fantasy when the Maleficent float caught on fire while she was making her way somewhere between Main Street USA and Liberty Square.

Some cast members worked quickly to evacuate the area and keep guests safe while other cast members and first responders worked on extinguishing the fire.

We have gotten word that the cast member that operates the float got out safely and no one got hurt.
Please stay tuned to Center of Magic as we will bring you updates on the Maleficent float and when the Festival of the Fantasy Parade will resume.
